===========================================

Note regarding Ad Muncher v5.0:

Previously we mentioned that we were working on rewriting Ad Muncher in C for the
sake of porting, maintenance and stability. This rewrite was originally planned
as a single large release named v5.0. The plan has since changed to releasing
several interim versions on the way to v5.0, each with progressively more C code
replacing the existing assembly codebase. Ad Muncher v4.7 will be the first of
these interim releases.

BleachBit 0.6.5 beta to test!

BleachBit is an open source System Cleaner for Windows and Linux OS with support for sqlite3 databases vacuum for Mozilla Firefox Profile folder. NEW Google Chrome's vacuuming is supported! The application is capable to scan for sqlite databases and optimize them.

BeachBit is on of the best to clean the system. A must have tool!

The new BleachBit 0.6.5 beta containing new features and bug fixes. There have been extensive changes under the hood, so nearly everything needs testing. In particular, please test:

* Vacuum Google Chrome's fragmented SQLite databases. How much space do you recover? The safe browsing bloom file usually gives me 5MB and the other files about 250KB. // without vacuum, safe browsing bloom = about 12 - 15 mb, overall on Chrome recover near the same as by Safari on Windows running sqlite vacuum.
* Clean Google Chrome version 3's usage history
* On Linux (now in addition to Windows), BleachBit should refuse to clean Google Chrome while it is running
* When BleachBit 0.6.4 encounters an error deleting a file, it may not delete some of the next files (bug#435246). BleachBit 0.6.5 should skip the error and continue deleting the next file.
* BleachBit should properly delete Windows registry named values for Microsoft Office, Windows Media Player, and TeamViewer. This should fix a bug where BleachBit 0.6.4 deleted the whole key instead of just the named value. You should see some registry entries marked in angle brackets like < this >.
* BleachBit is now portable on Linux and Windows. It should find its own files (cleaners, icon, etc) regardless of the current working directory in which it was started. On Windows, this means you can just unzip BleachBit to a portable USB drive or run it from your desktop without installation. On Linux, it's now even easier to run from the source. (You never had to compile BleachBit, so it was also fairly easy to run from source on Linux.)
* Look for regressions in previewing and deleting files and performing special operations including wiping free disk space, APT, Yum, vacuuming, OpenOffice.org, and Windows registry keys.
* If you package BleachBit for a repository, please check your launcher. BleachBit 0.6.5 uses some absolute imports instead of relative imports. If it starts, the new imports work.

Report any bugs to the bug tracker or a comment to Andrew's blog post.

star Highlights in this build:

* Many Unicode fixes for Unite
* Unite local (IP-address) connections to Mac should work now. If you have more than one machine on your network, you can see others running Unite by clicking the Unite icon, or right-clicking the Unite panel
* Text-shadows in Opera Widgets on Windows aren't magenta anymore
* Switch to use PNG instead of XPM for the application icon on UNIX. Should improve the icon in most Desktop Environments, it is also a bit buggy at the moment.

HashTab 3.0 - The easiest way to verify file authenticity and integrity

HashTab v3.0.0 is now available for Windows and Mac.

HashTab by Beeblebrox.org provides OS extensions to calculate file hashes. HashTab supports many hash algorithms such as MD5, SHA1, SHA2, RipeMD, HAVAL and Whirlpool. Hashtab is supported as a Windows shell extension and a Mac Finder plugin. HashTab provides an easy way to verify file integrity and authenticity.

Once you have installed HashTab, just right click on any file. On Windows, select properties and you will see a new "File Hashes" tab. On Mac select More -> File Hashes this will start Hashtab providing more or less the same view that you see on Windows. This File Hashes window displays all the hashes for the file. You can customize which hashes are calculated and displayed. You can hash other files for comparison. You can also paste in hash text so you don't go cross-eyed trying to compare MD5 hashes. See below for more ways to use Hashtab.
